MSA G1 SCBA Competent User
Know you MSA SCBA ensemble. To maximize the employment of your SCBA, are you confident that you have a thorough understanding of its capabilities. Competence can be described as the combination of training, skills, experience and knowledge that a person has and their ability to apply them to perform a task safely. This training module will meet and exceed that training need.

- 1 - Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) Device selection process.
- 2 - Understand your ensemble features and components maximizing capability.
- 3 - Perform pre use examination, visual, tactile, performance and safety checks prior to use.
- 4 - Donning and Doffing your MSA SCBA ensemble.
- 5 - Understand the impact of degradation whilst wearing SCBA to aid air management.
- 6 - Cleaning and user maintenance of MSA SCBA.

Student delegates, will be subject to both theory and practical assessment on the below listed objectives, in accordance with the MSA Course Assessment Strategy (CAS).
MSA G1 Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for Competent User:
Course Objectives:
EO1.1 - Understand the concept of use and employment of the MSA SCBA.
EO1.3 – Understand the MSA SCBA subcomponents and their functions.
EO1.3.1 – Recognise the subcomponents and function of the SCBA Facepiece.
EO1.3.3 – Understand the subcomponents and the function of the Regulator/LGDV.
EO1.3.4 – Understand the sub components and function of the pressure reducer.
EO1.3.6 – Understand the function of the SCBA warning alarm.
EO1.3.8 – Understand the function and sub components of the carrier and harness assembly.
EO1.3.9 – Understand the characteristics, sub components and there function, of an SCBA cylinder.
EO1.6 – Perform Pre-Use examination on the MSA SCBA.
EO1.7 – Don the MSA SCBA and perform any local checks prior to performing a task.
KLP1.7.23 – Connect regulator to G1 facepiece, continue normal use.
EO1.8 – Doff the MSA SCBA and perform a post use examination.
EO1.9 – Clean the MSA SCBA post use.
