MSA SCBA Level 1 Soft Goods Repair

C.A.R.E. is an acronym for Certified Air-mask Repair Education. The Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) maintenance level 2 course is specially designed and developed to address a series of repairs and G1 soft goods component replacement. These level 2 repairs can be performed onsite and are not associated with the requirement of a flow test post repair.

C.A.R.E. classes should only be attended by those individuals who are, or will be, assigned to maintain and repair MSA Air Masks on a frequent basis and have the mechanical aptitude, experience and skill-set to perform the work.

Student delegates, will be subject to both theory and practical assessment on the below listed objectives, in accordance with the MSA Course Assessment Strategy (CAS).

MSA SCBA Level 1 Soft Goods Repair

Understand the MSA SCBA subcomponents and their functions. 

Understand the MSA SCBA maintenance schedule for a given SCBA ensemble in accordance with the MSA SCBA maintenance documentation.

Perform a level 1 maintenance task on the G1 Facepiece.

Perform a visual and function examination on the facepiece.

Perform a scheduled maintenance task on a MSA SCBA G1 Carrier assembly.

Replace a rubber/5 point head harness.

Replace a 4 point head harness.

Replace the exhalation valve on the facepiece.

Replace nose cup inlet valve x 2 or valve seat x 2.

Replace the Inhalation Valve.
